Q&A: What’s a “waspie”?

A waspie generally refers to a very short corset; however, the exact specifications for waspies tends to vary from person to person. Our waist cincher corsets are one example of waspie corsets, but some waspies are even shorter! Waspie corsets tend to work very well for shorter waisted or petite folks and can also work well for people who want to cinch just their waist or those who want more flexibility while wearing their corset. Many people find that they have a greater range of motion in their torso in a shorter corset simply because the corset covers less!

Waspie may also refer to a specific shape of corset, although wasp waist is the more commonly used term, but again the exact definition for this tends to vary from person to person. While the exact shape and silhouette of a waspie or wasp waist may vary, this is generally used to describe a corset, or person, whose waist is very small in comparison to the rest of them, creating a more dramatic or extreme look.
